About Domain Statistics
Domain Statistics is a free tool for looking up the public facts about a domain name: when it was registered and when it is due for renewal, where it is hosted, how its DNS and email are set up, whether its website and certificate work, how long the Wayback Machine has been archiving it, and how popular it is. Each report is laid out like a survey sheet, with a key to the symbols and an explanation beside every figure.
It is independent. We are not a registry, registrar or search engine, and we are not affiliated with Nominet, ICANN, the Internet Archive, the Tranco project, Google or Microsoft. The data comes from their public services, and we credit each source on every report.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show personal details of domain owners — only registry facts such as dates, registrar and status.
- We don’t store the content of the websites we check, only a few extracted facts such as the page title.
- We don’t scrape search engine results. Where an automatic check isn’t possible, we say so and give you a button to check yourself.
- We don’t present estimates as facts. The worth and traffic figures are rough, labelled, and their formulas are on our methodology page.
Our lookup bot
When someone surveys a domain, our server visits the home page, /robots.txt and /sitemap.xml — a handful of requests at most, and no more than once a day per domain unless someone presses “Re-check”. It identifies itself with this user-agent:
domainstatistics.co.uk lookup bot (+https://domainstatistics.co.uk/about/)
It doesn’t crawl beyond those addresses, follow links or submit forms. If you run a website and our bot causes you a problem, please contact us, or ask us to remove your domain’s report.
